Most Australian visa subclasses require a health examination from a Bupa-approved Panel Physician via the eMedical (now BorderMed) electronic platform.
Visas that need health examinations
- Skilled visas: 482 (TSS), 186 (ENS), 187 (RSMS), 189 (skilled independent), 190 (state nominated), 491 (regional), 887 (subsequent skilled)
- Family / partner: 309/100 (offshore partner), 820/801 (onshore partner), 300 (prospective marriage), parent + child visas
- Student: 500 (depends on country of origin)
- Visitor: 600 (only if from high-TB-prevalence country AND staying over 6 months)
Get your HAP ID first
Before booking your medical, you need a Health Identifier (HAP ID) from your visa application in ImmiAccount. This unique number links your medical results to your visa file. Bring it to your appointment along with your passport.
Cost + validity
Standard adult eMedical: $415 USD. Validity: 12 months from exam date. Pregnant applicants can defer the chest X-ray to post-arrival.
