Settlement-visa applicants from 100+ listed TB-prevalence countries need a tuberculosis screening certificate from an IOM-approved clinic before applying.
Who needs the IOM TB test?
The UK Home Office requires the IOM tuberculosis screening certificate if all three apply:
- You are applying for a UK visa of more than 6 months duration (settlement, work, student, family).
- You are a national or resident of a country on the UK-listed TB-prevalence list.
- You will be in the UK for more than 6 months.
The listed countries (updated periodically)
The full list is maintained on GOV.UK and updates 1-2 times per year. As of 2026, it includes most countries in:
- South Asia: India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan
- Sub-Saharan Africa: almost all countries
- Southeast Asia: Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos
- Eastern Europe: Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia
- Parts of Latin America: Bolivia, Peru, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Honduras
- Pacific: Papua New Guinea, Marshall Islands, Solomon Islands
- Middle East: Yemen, Iraq, Syria
