CANADIAN PR MEDICAL

Canadian Immigration Medical Exam

IRCC-Panel-Physician medical exams for Express Entry, family sponsorship, study permits, and work permits.

What we book

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) requires an Upfront Medical Exam (UME) or Post-Application Medical Exam from an IRCC-designated Panel Physician for most permanent residence and many temporary residence applications. We match you with a Panel Physician near your U.S. address (or your destination Canadian city if you’re already there).

What’s included

  • Medical history review and physical examination
  • Vision and hearing screening
  • Blood and urine analysis (HIV, syphilis, kidney/liver function for applicants 15+)
  • Chest X-ray (applicants 11+, with pregnancy exceptions)
  • IRCC electronic submission via eMedical (results sent directly to IRCC, valid 12 months)
  • Personal copy of your IMM 1017B Upfront Medical Report

Typical cost

$350–$500 USD in major North American cities. Includes the physician fee, X-ray, and lab work bundled. The eMedical electronic submission is included — you do not pay for transmission to IRCC separately.

Country guide

For full context on Canadian immigration — Express Entry CRS scoring, Provincial Nominee Programs, family class sponsorship, study permits, work permits, citizenship timelines, and IRCC processing benchmarks — see our complete Canada immigration guide. It covers when the medical exam is required for each visa type, what additional documentation IRCC expects, and how to coordinate the medical with your Express Entry profile or sponsorship application so the 12-month medical validity window aligns with your invitation to apply.
