The I-693 includes a syphilis blood test for everyone 15 and older and a gonorrhea urine test for adults aged 18–24 (plus others based on risk factors). HIV testing was removed in 2010 and is no longer required.

Syphilis serology

A simple blood test. If positive, the Civil Surgeon orders a confirmatory test. Confirmed untreated syphilis is Class A; treated syphilis is Class B.

Gonorrhea NAAT

Urine-based nucleic acid amplification test. Required routinely for ages 18–24; for others, only if the Civil Surgeon identifies risk factors. Active untreated gonorrhea is Class A; treated is admissible.

HIV testing

Not required since 2010. Some Civil Surgeons offer it as an optional add-on for general health screening; it does NOT appear on the I-693 and does NOT affect admissibility.

These screenings are all included as part of our I-693 exam service.
