Resident visa applicants and longer-term work/study visa holders need a chest X-ray and/or full medical from an INZ-approved panel physician.
Who needs the exam?
- Resident visa applicants: Full medical + chest X-ray for ages 11+
- Work visa holders staying over 12 months: Chest X-ray (ages 11+) — full medical if from listed country
- Student visa holders staying over 12 months: Chest X-ray (ages 11+)
- Visitor visa over 6 months from TB-listed country: Chest X-ray (ages 11+)
Cost + validity
Adult full medical: $395 USD. Chest X-ray only: $130. Validity: 3 months from exam (you must submit visa application within 3 months of the medical).
eMedical for NZ
New Zealand uses the same eMedical platform as Australia, with a separate INZ panel-physician approval. Results upload electronically to Immigration New Zealand within 24-48 hours of the exam.
