India-specific TB note
Because India has high TB prevalence AND high BCG vaccination coverage, the modern IGRA blood test is strongly preferred over the older Mantoux skin test for I-693 and most other immigration exams. Mantoux gives a high false-positive rate in BCG-vaccinated patients; IGRA does not. USCIS specifically requires IGRA (not Mantoux) for the I-693.
Vaccination records from India
Bring your childhood immunization booklet (the small yellow or green booklet typically issued by your pediatrician or by the Universal Immunisation Programme) plus any later vaccination records. School-leaving health certificates and military service medical records are also acceptable. If your records are in Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, Telugu, Gujarati, or any other Indian language, we can refer you to a certified translation service or you can translate in advance ($50-$120 per page typical).
