If you’re applying for a UK settlement visa from one of the 100+ listed countries with high TB prevalence and you’ll be in the UK for more than 6 months, the UK Home Office requires a tuberculosis screening certificate from an IOM-approved clinic — not your usual doctor.

Which countries are on the list

Includes most of South Asia (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka), Sub-Saharan Africa, Southeast Asia, and parts of Eastern Europe. The full list is published by GOV.UK and updates periodically; check before booking.

What the test involves

For applicants 11 and older: a chest X-ray. For under-11s: a clinical assessment without imaging unless symptoms are present.

How long the certificate is valid

6 months from the date of issue.

Cost

Set by IOM; currently $130 (USD) at our Mumbai, Manila, Karachi, and Lagos partner clinics. Children under 11 are about half-price.
